Privacy Notice
Effective September 10, 2026. Mapfetti provides this notice to explain how the service handles information. Contact support@mapfetti.com with privacy questions or requests.
What we process
- Account information: Auth0 handles registration and sign-in. Your name, email, email-verification status, and account identifier are used to display your profile and associate projects with your account. Mapfetti does not receive your Auth0 password.
- Saved projects: When you choose Save project, your map data, title, settings, and other project content are sent to our cloud storage. Project records include your account identifier, project type, revision, and creation/update times.
- Agreement records: We store the terms/privacy version and server-recorded acceptance time with your account identifier. We do not add your IP address to that agreement record.
- Technical information: Hosting and authentication providers process information such as IP addresses, requests, device/browser details, security events, and service logs to deliver and protect the service. This is different from the limited agreement record.
How information is used
We use information to authenticate users, save and retrieve projects, operate and secure the service, investigate errors, respond to support and privacy requests, and meet applicable legal obligations. We do not sell personal information or use it for targeted advertising. We do not provide account information or saved projects to advertising networks.
Providers and sharing
Auth0 provides authentication. Cloudflare hosts the app, project metadata, and saved project files. Those providers process information needed for their services under their terms and privacy practices. Information may also need to be disclosed to comply with legal obligations or protect rights and security. We do not promise that no third party processes personal information.
Optional ArcGIS features send requests to ArcGIS or the selected source service. Geocoding sends the locations you choose to geocode; Public live layers receive viewer requests. Check the source service's policies and your sharing settings before using these features.
Browser storage and public viewing
CSV parsing, matching, rendering, and image exports generally run in your browser. Unsaved drafts use sessionStorage for recovery within the current tab, including during sign-in. They are not uploaded as saved projects unless you choose to save. Drafts can survive refresh and normally clear when the tab’s session ends, but browser session restoration may retain them. Preferences and a non-sensitive sign-in hint may use localStorage. Cloud saving sends project content to our servers. Auth0 uses session mechanisms, including cookies, to support sign-in; the app keeps its Auth0 token cache in sessionStorage so sign-in survives navigation within a browser tab. Auth0 clears cached credentials on log out; sessionStorage normally clears when the tab’s browsing session ends.
Public examples, guest editing, and image exports can be used without an account. Guest use still involves hosting requests and any external data services you choose. Saving to My projects keeps a project private to your account through the app. Exported images can be seen by whoever you share them with.
Retention, deletion, and your choices
Account and project information is retained to provide your account and saved projects. You can delete projects in My projects. Deletion removes the active project record and requests removal of its stored content; provider backups, operational logs, and records needed for legal or security purposes may persist according to applicable retention requirements.
Contact support@mapfetti.com to request account deletion, access, correction, or other privacy rights available under applicable law. We may need to verify your identity. Clearing browser storage removes session recovery drafts but does not delete cloud projects or your Auth0 account. Logging out does not delete your account.
Use care with uploaded data
Do not upload sensitive personal information, confidential records, or personal information about children. A map may identify a person even without a name, particularly when it includes precise locations. Automated privacy checks can miss identifying data; review your input and output yourself. No service can guarantee absolute security.
Changes and contact
We will update this notice when practices change. Material changes accompanying updated account terms will be presented for acknowledgment. Privacy questions and reports can be sent to support@mapfetti.com.
Feedback
If you send feedback, we store your message, the link you choose to include, and your optional reply email to investigate and respond. Feedback is not public. We use a short-lived, hourly IP-derived hash to limit spam; the feedback form does not store your raw IP address. Cloudflare may separately process technical request logs as described above. Contact support@mapfetti.com to request deletion of your feedback.
Published maps
Saving keeps a project private. Published maps appear in the Community gallery for signed-in members, including a map thumbnail and any creator display name you choose. There is currently no unlisted publishing option. When you choose Publish, a snapshot of its map configuration and included data becomes accessible to anyone with its link, including through embeds. Later draft edits remain private until you publish an update. Public snapshots may be cached at Cloudflare’s edge; requests check that the project is still published before serving them. Unpublishing prevents future access through Mapfetti, but cannot remove copies or maps already downloaded by viewers.
